Ingredients
500g Desiree potatoes, peeled and cut into thin slices |
1 small onion, sliced |
125mL vegetable stock |
2 tbsp Devondale Salted Butter |
2 tbsp plain flour |
500mL Devondale Full Cream Long Life Milk |
1 cup Devondale Tasty Shredded Cheese |
1/4 cup Devondale Colby Shredded Cheese |

- Lightly grease a 1L microwave safe baking dish. Layer the potato and onion into baking dish. Pour over vegetable stock and season to taste. Microwave on high for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Prepare cheese sauce by heating butter in a saucepan over medium heat, until melted and foaming. Add flour and cook for approximately 1 minute. Remove pan from heat and slowly add milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps forming. Return pan to a medium heat, stirring until sauce thickens, stir in tasty cheese until smooth and remove from heat.
- Pour cheese sauce over potatoes and onions. Top with grated colby cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is browned. Serve immediately.
- Half of the potato in this recipe can be substituted with sweet potato to make a colourful and tasty variation.
