Petting Zoo Cupcakes

Get creative with your cupcake decorating. We recommend using coloured icing, marshmallows, chocolate malt balls and liquorice strips to create the faces of your favourite animals.


Ingredients

2 cups self-raising flour, sifted
¾ cup caster sugar
2 eggs, beaten
¾ cup Devondale Full Cream Fresh Milk
125g Devondale Unsalted Butter melted
1 tsp vanilla essence
3 cups icing sugar mixture, sifted
250g Devondale Unsalted Butter softened
2 tbsp Devondale Full Cream Fresh Milk


Directions

  1. Ask an adult to preheat the oven to 200°C. Line cupcake tray with 12 patty cases. Combine flour and caster sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the centre.
  2. Add milk, butter, eggs and vanilla to flour mixture. Using a large metal spoon, stir gently to combine.
  3. Spoon mixture into prepared patty cases. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Stand in pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
  4. Using an electric mixer, beat butter in a bowl until pale. Gradually add icing sugar mixture and milk, beating constantly until combined.
  5. Add food colour to batches of icing and decorate using lollies such as marshmallows, jelly beans and desiccated coconut to look like cows, pigs and sheep.
